Competitive Level

Overview
Players are grouped into teams to participate in training and organized leagues based on their playing level. There are two
leagues AYSL teams participate in.
 
1.  Walt Zinko Playing League

        • Division 3 teams, U12 to U19

        Teams may choose to enter CYSA-N State Cup,  Presidents Cup, Association Cup and other USYS affiliated tournaments.
  
2.  CYSA Cal Soccer League (CCSL)

        • Division 1 and 3 teams, U11 to U19

        This is a new playing league in it inaugural year! AYSL is in the Northern Region, comprised of District 5, 6 & 9 collectively
        forming the Northern Region. There are three playing seasons; fall, winter and spring. Each team registers prior to each
        season to play. U9, U10, and U11 age groups shall play 8v8. U12 and above teams shall play 11v11. Teams may choose
        to enter CYSA-N State Cup,  Presidents Cup, Association Cup and other USYS affiliated tournaments.

COACHING
Coaches are selected by the AYSL D3 Coaching Coordinators from parent volunteers. Our volunteer coaches hold coaching
licenses and have a love for the game to teach players the basics and advanced skills. Volunteering to coach offers a rewarding
opportunity to work with children and build their individual and team playing skills. All coaches and assistant coaches are

AYSL provides support to volunteer coaches by sponsoring free training and free coaching clinics beginning in August.
Additional training is available through CYSA coaching courses. The exclusive AYSL Rec Instructor Program (AYSL's own
league trainer) is unique in that it provides training for coaches from U6-U19 teams.

TRAINING
Beginning June and throughout the summer,  U12 to U19 select players will participate in technical training for 2 or more
practices a week  Training will focus on Soccer Age Appropriate exercises and technical skills.

SPECIAL TRAINING 
Special mini-camps will be offered to entire age groups by AYSL and its D3 Coaching Coordinators during the summer months
to focus on developing the AYSL Style pf play.

TOURNAMENTS
For each Age group, the AYSL D3 Coaching Coordinators will be meet some time after the team formation process to firm up
a list of suggested tournaments that the teams will go to based on the teams’ abilities. We will try to get many teams to go to
the same tournament if possible to create a strong presence and players can support other AYSL teams.
