TEAM PLACEMENT REQUESTS
At AYSL, we try, to the best of our ability, to honor special requests for placement on specific teams, specific coaches or with
specific players, but sometimes circumstances prevent all request. Teams are typically formed by considering the area of
residence, player's age and experience, and the availability of coaches in your neighborhood.
REC PROGRAM
U6 age group – Players in our U6 divisions play 4 versus 4 on the field with no goalkeepers. Every player gets to play at least
50% of each game. Teams usually have 8 players each and play two 12 minute halves with stoppage for substitutions at about
6 minutes of play. The coaches are also the referees. The goal of this age group is to introduce a love of the game and
encourage a lot of touches on the ball. The practice location, time of day, and day of week are up to the coach, but for these
age divisions, the players can only practice once a week for an hour and games are on Saturdays. Coaches usually start
contacting players in August. These teams are coed.
U8 age group – Players in our U8 division play 7 versus 7 on the field plus goalkeepers. Every player gets to play at least 50%
of each game. Teams usually have 10 players each and play two 20 minute halves with a substitution break at around the
10 minute mark of each half at an appropriate stoppage in play. The goal of this age group is to introduce a love of the game
and encourage a lot of touches on the ball. The practice location, days of week, time and length are up to the coach, but
typically for this age division, the players practice twice a week for about an hour and games are on Saturdays. Coaches
usually start contacting players in August. These teams are coed.
